The only noteworthy thing about the house is that it has nothing remarkable. A white bungalow, rather handy than nice, before a short trimmed lawn. The garage occupies one third of the building. It is the real reason why buses always pass, very slowly. Because something special is nevertheless at this house, even if one does not see: Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak have built in the garage 1976 the first Apple computer. Sometimes a bus stops so that tourists can jump out and take a picture of the locked garage door, very brief, because that is actually forbidden. The inhabitants feel bothered. An old lady sits on the porch of the neighboring house, looks grimly at her newspaper, gets up and goes inside.
The house in Los Altos, California, where Steve Jobs grew up, is now a memorial to Apple. In ten years, Apple has developed from two types in a garage to a two-billion dollar company, Jobs said once. In this unadorned estate Jobs and Wozniak laid the foundation for a technical revolution and founded a cult.
The iPhone, which Jobs presented around 30 years after the founding of Apple, stands for simple elegance and timeless design. Perhaps not a contradiction, but a logical consequence. “The computer revolution was born here in this environment,” says Tourguide Sharon Traeger, who has been leading private groups through the Silicon Valley for years and tells them about his story. She is blond, neat, well dressed. And it looks as if she is doing it with the city guide only for her private pleasure. Houses like that of the family jobs there are many in the neighborhood. The bungalows, the lawns, the streets, everything is repeated.
Silicon Valley Santa Clara County was called the region earlier. The name Silicon Valley goes back to the journalist Don Hoefler who wrote an article about the semiconductor industry in the USA. The name "silicon" (silicon, a semiconductor required for modern technologies) refers to the high concentration of companies in the area operating in the semiconductor and computer industry.
The Silicon Valley is rather uninteresting in terms of landscape and urban development. In the summer, the hills are barren and brown of deforested grass, only in the mountains before Santa Cruz it becomes green. Tourists usually head past nearby San Francisco. For technical fans, however, there is hardly any more interesting place. What makes the Silicon Valley a landmark where garages become ideas? Not only Apple, synonymous Google comes so to speak from a garage. From the Valley the coexistence of people has been lifted to a new level, the way they communicate with each other, as news in the world spread completely. Is there an energy field surrounding this place? Do you feel it? This is trying to figure out who is looking for track searching.
